The Ceiriog Valley & The Llangollen Canal

About the walk:

If you were on Peter and Linda’s Chirk walk in 2023, you will also be delighted by this new route. After setting off from Chirk through Bryn Kinalt Country Park, once crowned with pit workings, enjoy views across the Ceiriog Valley. We follow a pretty path past cottages and walk up to the viewpoint in Ifton Meadows Nature Reserve - another former coal mine. From Pentre, we follow the Llwybr Maelor Way to the Llangollen Canal. Here we walk the entire length of the Chirk Aquaduct that spans the valley, then enter the blackness of Chirk Tunnel. Do not forget to bring a torch!
