About the event

Marie Kreft is an award-winning writer whose work has featured in various regional, national and international titles – including BBC Countryfile Magazine. She is the author of Slow Travel: Shropshire for Bradt Travel Guides and we are pleased that Drayton Hikers have been chosen to work with her on a new bespoke walk in North Shropshire for the 2025 slow travel edition. Having completed the draft route, recce & mapping we now plan to walk it with the group and the good news is that Marie Kreft will walk it with us! So be the first group of folks to participate on this inaugural walk and (if you’re interested) chat at some point to Marie about her experiences of exploring Shropshire and travel guidebook writing. It’s a Lovely Walk taking in Market Drayton, Broomhall, Almington, Oakley and Tunstall Hall along the route. Mainly flat along country roads, fields and lanes and canal towpaths.

Meet up on the car park of the Swimming baths in Market Drayton, and then travel to the start point, that way we can share cars as there will be limited parking only at the start point. We leave the swimming baths at: 9.30am prompt.
